Note on my Computer Screen...

This morning there was a note stuck to the middle of my computer screen that reminded -- Wednesday, 9:00 am Dare Grad Gym 4 Jensen. Not cryptic at all -- I understood perfectly that he wanted me to grab my camera and head over to the school.

Arriving a little late, I was totally confident there would be parking spots to spare. When there weren't - it occurred to me -- this is a bigger deal than I thought. I ended up parking down Imnaha far enough I should have just walked from home.

All the kids clad in their new t-shirts sat cross legged on the floor while Officer Meyer MC'd. A student from each class read their DARE essay and reported how interesting and fun the class had been. The Chief of Police introduced the dozen or so officers present and assured there were many more not in attendance still out there protecting our city.

The graduates, each called by name made their way down the receiving line of law enforcement shaking hands as they went -- all except the last officer who offered his fist -- nuckle side up for a pound instead of a shake. I missed Jensen actually connecting his pound so we had to recreate it after the fact. Chandler's pound photo turned out the best so I emailed it to his mom.

One might think with the number of police and sheriff vehicles parked at the school that some big drug bust was going down - except that the DARE trailer was a dead giveaway it was really something else.

Another successful graduation from DARE. I personally like the t-shirts -- especially because I won't get begged to stick them to my car bumper.

Yes, Brenda, I found out the hard way that I should have been at Christian's DARE Graduation. Two years ago I drove by and thought, gee what's going on at the school. I have a ton of guilt for missing his. So, to make up for it I was 5 minutes early to Hayden's.
